And, of course, they spent some time in the free speech pen (an idea I find so bizarre and offensive that I'm not even going to try to address it right now):

that last picture is a bit galling. The whole idea of a free speech "pen" just irks me to no end. Urgh.
Who's the guy in the T-shirt, and I can barely make out the text, is it "My government is taking away my civil liberties and all I got was this Kerry T-shirt"?
I assumed "lousy t-shirt".

The shirt says "My government is taking away my civil liberties and all I got was this lousy T-shirt" and the man is my dad, who is a big Kerry supporter.
