Cartoon: The Health Reform Debate

Drew this a few weeks ago after my parents encountered some unpleasant characters with Obama-Hitler signs at a town hall. If I had drawn more recently he'd be toting a bunch of machine guns.

Boy howdy, am I depressed about Obama. It looks like we're going to get health care "reform" that basically treats us as profit sources for corporations first and citizens second -- not exactly hopey-changey. Maybe he'll surprise us yet with a fresh public-option offensive when Washington comes back from break, but I'm not optimistic at this point.

Mikhaela, WTF is going on over there? I'm a US expat, lived in Australia since 1996. I've had single-payer universal healthcare since then. It hasn't killed anyone's grandma. Disappointingly, it also hasn't bankrupted the private health insurers we do have here.
Obama is apparently responding to overwhelming pressure from the GOP, who have a crushing minority in Congress.
Gotta say it again... W. T. F., over?
This is so informative, and its punchline is awesome.

I am a Ex Pat living in Europe and have a single payer system to which I pay a very small monthly premium. I am retired and getting along in years and nobody has told me to go die. I really think there is a segment of people in the U.S that have their heads up some place where the sun doesn't shine. Needless to say I mwill not be coming back to the U.S any time soon
